Welcome to PTSA!
How to become a member and how much? $10 Membership
1. Request a form be emailed to you via
[email protected].
2. Picking up a membership form in the office.
3. Catch one of our officers at a membership drive in the school.
Why become a member and who can join?
Our high school students are getting older and this one way to stay involved and be part of their lives and high school memories. PTSA works behind the scenes to advocate in Washington DC to pass legislation to keep free lunches, bully prevention, digital safety, STEM, and other healthy programs. Create a parent leadership collaboration to strengthen our village. We encourage all Harrison Community members, Mom, Dad, Student, and Grandparents, there is no limit to our inclusivity.
How much time is involved?
No volunteer time is necessary. A membership does not commit your time however includes you to be invited to events should you choose to volunteer your time.
I don’t like fundraising.
We do not fundraise. Here at Harrison, we provide goods and services to the community. We will not ask you to raise money, but we may ask if you would like to donate to a specific event.
Example: If we sell a t-shirt, the sell price will cover the cost of the shirt and may provide a small profit for other events. If the school sponsors a “jean or hoodie” day the student pays $1, and those funds would go to a PTSA sponsored event like Senior Celebration or Teacher Appreciation Week.
Meetings mandatory?
No. You do NOT have to come to a meeting but this is where your voice is heard. If you have an idea that would be great for our community that would bring inclusion, engagement, and involvement, we want to hear it. When we are planning what we can do to encourage our students, we love your ideas. When we plan teacher appreciation week, we need you. So you do not have to come to a meeting….WE WANT YOU TO. We want to get to know other parents and respect your time and ideas. The principal does typically attend so we have a Q&A session. We encourage students and teachers to come so we can hear all perspectives on a topic. We want to spread joy and kindness in February (play off Valentine’s Day) – a student, teacher, and parent’s perspective is very different and needed to pull off a successful event. Email and Text blast will go out with meeting dates.
